  • Profile: Optional country and bio you choose to share

Information Collected Automatically

  • Typing Test Results: WPM, accuracy, duration, error count, and text type — to power your dashboard and leaderboard
  • IP Address: Stored with test results for anti-fraud purposes
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used — collected via Google Analytics (if enabled)
  • Cookies: Session cookie for login state, preferences cookie for dark mode

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve the typing test, lessons, games, and certificate features
  • Display your scores on the personal dashboard and global leaderboard (if you have an account)
  • Generate and verify typing certificates
  • Respond to your contact form messages
  • Send important account emails (password reset, email verification)
  • Detect and prevent abuse, cheating, or fraud
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the platform

3. Cookies & Tracking

We use the following cookies:

  • Session Cookie (PHPSESSID): Required for login. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Theme Cookie (ts_theme): Remembers your dark/light mode preference. Expires after 1 year.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics): If enabled by the site administrator, collects anonymous usage statistics. You can opt out at Google Analytics Opt-out.
  • AdSense: If ads are enabled, Google AdSense may set cookies for advertising purposes. See Google's ad policy.

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data only in these cases:

  • Google Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics (if enabled)

Your username and typing scores may be displayed publicly on the global leaderboard if you have an account.

  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (industry standard)
  • The site uses HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Admin panel is password protected and blocked from public search engines
  • Database access is restricted to server-level authentication
  • We never store credit card information (the service is free)

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction: Update your username, email, or profile information in your dashboard
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us
  • Opt-out: Disable analytics tracking using browser extensions or settings
  • Data Portability: Request an export of your test history

7. Children's Privacy

TypingSkil is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

No! You can take unlimited typing tests, play all games, and access free lessons without creating an account. An account is only needed if you want to save your scores, earn certificates, and appear on the leaderboard.

Yes. Guest test results are stored only with your IP address for anti-fraud purposes and are not linked to any personal identity. You can take tests completely anonymously.

When you request account deletion, we permanently delete your username, email, password, test history, lesson progress, certificates, and leaderboard entry. Some anonymized aggregate data (total test counts) may be retained for statistics.

Only if Google AdSense is enabled by the site. You can see the current ad status on our site. You can opt out of personalized ads in your Google Account settings or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out extension.

Yes. All data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption. Passwords are never stored in plain text — we use bcrypt hashing. The database is only accessible server-side.
